Get to know the WIKO T10

I haven’t evaluated a phone from a brand that is new to the Philippines in a long time. That being said,  WIKO is a French smartphone manufacturer that has been operating since 2011 and now WIKO has made its way into the Philippine market, bringing with it the WIKO T10.

Design

The phone comes in a white box with the company’s branding printed in dazzling transparent printing. Other information on the box’s face includes a back and front view photograph of the phone, as well as its storage capacity, which is 128GB for our review device. When we open the package, we are met with the actual device.

A little white box next to the device contains some paperwork and the SIM eject tool. The remaining things are included at the bottom of the box: a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, which is a must-have for the WIKO T10 given its low pricing, and a 10W power adapter.

Moving onto the actual device, WIKO chose a textured polycarbonate rear panel with a geometric pattern, as well as a single 13 megapixel camera on the back. The material of the rear panel provides a nice grip and is pleasant to grasp. Even without a case, it performs an excellent job of resisting smudges.

The SIM tray is on the left, while the power and volume buttons are on the right. At the bottom, you’ll find a loudspeaker with a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port, which is a pleasant inclusion for a phone that costs Php 6,499!

Display

The WIKO T10 has a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a refresh rate of 60hz and a water drop notch for the 5-megapixel front camera. Since it’s an IPS LCD panel, we can expect good viewing angles for the display of the WIKO T10. We noted that the WIKO T10 has a far greater brightness range than some of its more costly competitors. Some of the display features include a ‘Dark theme,’ which saves battery life when engaged, and a ‘Night Light,’ which filters dangerous blue light that may interfere with sleep.

Performance

The WIKO T10 is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 (12 nm) processor, which provides enough performance for budget handsets in general usage. The SoC is powered by a quad-core CPU with a clock speed of 2.0 GHz. It has 4GB of RAM for multitasking and 128GB of storage. I have to add that the high storage capacity sets the WIKO T10 apart from its competitors in this market, while some will only have 64GB or even 32GB; and if that isn’t enough, storage can be upgraded through microSD for up to 512GB in a hybrid slot.

In our experience with the WIKO T10, it’s capable of running YouTube videos and most games, including Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and shooting games, at a playable frame rate. The chip also generates less heat and requires less power when in use. Users who prefer binge-watching will appreciate the screen’s offering, as well as the handset’s strong sound.

It’s also worth noting that the WIKO T10 lacks a biometric fingerprint scanner. Face unlocking is also not supported It.

Camera

As previously stated, the WIKO T10 comes with a single 13MP rear camera with autofocus and an LED flash. A 5MP camera with AI beauty algorithms and screen flash will be available for selfies

The native camera app is simple, with three basic functions: video, photo, and beauty. Both the back and front cameras can record 1080p video. Panorama, Professional, Night, and Time-lapse modes are offered for the ‘Photo’ function (these modes are also available when you record videos). Similarly, while capturing images, you may use options such as AI, geotagging, and so on. You may experiment with stickers and upgrades such as ‘Skin,’ ‘Whitening,’ and ‘Rosy’ in the ‘Beauty’ feature. You may also use simple tools like crop, rotate, and filters to customize your outputs.

When taken in a well-lit location, photos have high quality and the proper amount of detail. However, the contrast and brightness may be improved. Colors are realistic, and dynamic range is enough for a low-cost phone. Colors are subdued in dim light, and most details are obscured.

Battery

A huge 5000 mAh battery powers the WIKO T10. It has clever power saving technology that allows the device to use power consumption efficiently to improve battery life. WIKO claims that a full charge provides 30 hours of calling, 20 hours of video, or 50 hours of audio. Based on our experience, the battery may easily last a full day with light to moderate use.

I appreciate that the WIKO T10 comes with a USB-C charging cord. The phone supports 10W charging, and you can anticipate it to be completely charged (0 to 100%) in roughly 3 hours

Software

WIKO T10 comes pre-installed with Android 11 Go Edition. This modified version of Android is designed to cater to low-cost phones with limited hardware, resulting in a smoother user experience and improved overall performance. This leads in speedier app launches and switching, as well as privacy features. Aside from that, the Google applications are in “light mode” as compared to their conventional versions, consuming less memory, storage space, and mobile data.

Verdict

The WIKO T10 is a competent phone. Despite being a low-cost option, its feature set allows you to accomplish more. Its camera is excellent when compared to competitors, and I appreciate the phone’s larger capacity and utilitarian design.

The WIKO T10 costs Php 6,499 in 4GB + 128GB option. You can get good bargains on the company’s main e-commerce websites, and it’s also available at WIKO stores around the country. ” – Geoffrey D. ( Techg3 Tech reviewer )
