WIKO is a French company that is a wholly owned subsidiary of Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Tinno Mobile. It was founded in February 2011 and was present in more than 30 countries in 2018. In the year 2022, WIKO entered the Philippine market but are they worth your hard-earned money to even be considered in your list . Starting with their entry-level smartphone, the WIKO 10, with a 6.74-inch display, Helio G37 CPU, and 5,000mAh battery.
Design
The WIKO 10 is a simple smartphone without the frills of a skinned UI, showy design, or gimmicks. Our review unit is in silver, and I’m impressed by how simple yet lovely the phone can be. The back panel has no spectacular laser printing or reflection designs, just a simple monotone silver-gray tone. This is a positive thing for me because I prefer simplicity above all else. Despite its large size, the WIKO 10 feels lovely and ergonomic in the hand because of the round corners and edges. The labels are carefully placed on the back panel without being distracting. The same could also be true for the camera module. The volume rocker and power button (which serves as a fingerprint scanner) are on the right side, while the SIM card tray is on the left; and a loudspeaker, a USB-C connector, and a 3.5mm headphone jack are at the bottom.
Display
The WIKO 10 sports a huge 6.74-inch display with an HD+ resolution, a refresh rate of 60Hz, and a notch for the selfie camera. The screen size alone indicates that the display is rather large for its price range. While the WIKO 10’s display is merely an IPS panel (other companies employ an AMOLED screen in the under Php 10k sector), the visuals are still vibrant, sharp, and brilliant.
That being said, users will find surfing the web, viewing movies, or playing games with this phone very enjoyable. However, some may be disappointed that it just has a single bottom-firing speaker, as companies are gradually adding stereo speakers even in low-cost phones. Thankfully, it has a headphone socket, so putting in your wired headphones isn’t an issue.
Camera
The WIKO 10 has a triple camera system, the most important of which is the 50 MP ISOCELL JN1 sensor with f/1.8 aperture. This is complemented by two 2MP macro and depth sensors. The primary sensor is particularly popular in this area because of the high quality of the photographs it produces. The main camera also has pixel isolation technology, which enables for more light to be collected with each pixel, resulting in brighter and more vivid photographs. The selfie camera has an 8-megapixel sensor, which is enough for everyday use.
The two cameras that accompany the WIKO 10’s primary camera seem unimpressive, since they are basically filler sensors. We want something beneficial, such as an ultra-wide-angle camera, to increase our versatility.
Performance
The WIKO 10 is powered by a Helio G37 CPU, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. While they may not appear to be outstanding, they are more than enough for day-to-day usage, particularly for tasks like social media browsing, internet browsing, and multimedia playback. Because the CPU is intended for general usage, don’t expect hardware-intensive games and programs to function well.
The phone also has Android 12 and offers a fluid user experience because of its almost stock and bloatware-free architecture. WIKO has also modified the Android 12 setting layout to be more aesthetically pleasant and young, in keeping with the phone’s overall appearance.
The WIKO 10 has a 5000mAh battery, which is comparable to other cheap smartphones, and it has a modest advantage over the competition due to its capability for 22.5w USB-C charging.
Verdict
” WIKO 10’s performance leaves a lot to be desired due to its processor of choice, but it makes up for it with a great camera and a huge display.
